    Priya Trehan

    Born into the Sahni family, originally from Peshawar, is me Priya Trehan now. Our love for food boils down to another level. The day starts for us deciding what our meals are going to be about.

    As I go down memory lane I remember myself as a really fat child. I loved to eat all the time. Often I used to be reffered to as 'moti', would hate it and be ashamed.

    As I entered my teens, I got conscious of my weight and tried out multiple diet plans. The result was commendable, I was in good shape.

    Life progressed and became sad and stressful. I lost my father, got married. The weight started coming back. Then came my daughter, in year 1990 a child with special needs. A sickly malnourished baby, had pnuemonia at birth. Had a complete lack of appetite, was 6.6 kgs at one year. She was thin like a reed, refused to eat, was hyperactive, prone to illnesses. All my energies went in getting her to EAT. I came up with loads of recipes that would help her gain weight. After nine years my younger daughter was born. I was huge at that time. So started my journey of weight loss again. Am down by 25 kgs from then.

    I realised how being overweight felt. You loose your self confidence. I wanted to help anyone suffering from a weight problem, over weight or under weight. Did my course in nutrition and weight loss and started practising as a dietician. Never realised at that point of time how much happiness and satisfaction this work would give me. I have dealt with people from all walks of life from homemakers to professionals, politicians, judges, lawyers, bollywood stars, models, doctors, businessmen, pilots, cancer survivors, pcod cases, people with knee problems, school and college students, studying in India and abroad. Lots of overseas residents in USA, UK, Singapore, Dubai, Australia. Nationally Punjab to Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mumbai.The list is endless.

    I thank God for the success I have achieved. Maybe I had a weight problem only to be able to help others. Families have benefited hugely and lifestyles have been modified for many.

    There are various ways of losing weight.The good mood diet makes the process as easy as possible. It is a very personalized and individualized plan, is based on the likes and dislikes of a person and what is available.It covers all food groups in a days plan, carbohydrates,protiens, calcium, vitamins.

    This diet plan takes care of the cravings of a person, so that after the weight loss you don't feel deprived and run towards the food which you were denied. There is really no point in seeing an X weight on the scale and gaining it back.

    Socializing, eating outside food and alcoholic drinks are acceptable, only it has to be planned in advance,so that the food combinations one has are right. The key to life is to be happy. Loads of illnesses are caused due to obesity, unhappiness and lack of self esteem.
